Where were you in '92? :

A flashback to Bournemouth '92
The phattest year of UK club culture

Remix
Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth

On a thursday night in '92, if you were in Bournemouth town center, there was nowhere else you would rather be than 'Remix'. Now known as 'Alcatraz', the DJ's who used to rock this joint back in the day were without doubt the biggest names the scene had to offer. We're talking Carl Cox, Top Buzz, Slipmatt, Seduction, Mickey Finn... the list is endless!

ZIGZAG
Firvale Road, Bournemouth

Now known as 'Elements & Circo', and previously 'The Cage & Zoo', this was the spot to see people like Artwell and Jay Rachet dropping the best in upfront New Jack Swing, Soul, and Hip Hop. Later on you would see regular guests dropping by such as Shafie and Dance spinning jungle.

NOBLES
Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth

What can i say about this place? If you were to travel into Bournemouth town center on a saturday night, there was only one place to go. Nobles was the place, 'Dreamdance' was the night. Hosted by bournemouth's old skool pioneers, Dream & Dance, with local support from Hector C, Shafie, Junk, Katch, and Kerry. You were always guaranteed a blindin night out, with big names appearing each and every week.

THE PALACE
Hinton Road, Bournemouth

Now known as 'Berlins' and frequented by students.
Back in the day many a great night was had here.

HOT HOUSE
Holdenhurst Road, Bournemout
h

Now called 'The Villa', back in '92 we saw the biggest dance act in the world perform here.... The Prodigy.

THE VENUE
Tower Park, Poole

Played here back in '92, and later became resident for 'Heritage'

BLA-BLA
Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth

This is now 'Walkabout'..... oh well.

CIAO
Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth

This club has had many names, but is currently called '176'

THE ACADEMY
Christchurch Road, Boscombe

Now known as 'The Opera House' and home to the famous 'Slinky'. Back in '92 this place had 2 stand out club nights, 'Wild Turkey' and 'Parhelion'. With unbelievable weekly line ups, this quickly became the club of choice for ravers accross the south coast. Just take a look at one of many flyers below.... a night in conjunction with Fantazia....

MADISONS
The Square, Bournemouth

Some amazing nights took place here, including parties and events from the likes of Groove Connection (with Bukem, Fabio, Grooverider, etc), and classic old skool and jungle label Suburban Base even put on a night which included a live PA from the mighty Q Bass.
